Establishment
The Archdiocese of Atlanta was established on February 21, 1962, by Pope John XXIII, when the Diocese of Atlanta was elevated to an archdiocese.[1][2]
Geography
The Archdiocese of Atlanta encompasses 69 counties in north and central Georgia, including but not limited to Fulton, DeKalb, Gwinnett, and Cobb counties.[3][4]
Mother Church
The cathedral and mother church of the archdiocese is the **Cathedral of Christ the King**, located in Atlanta, Georgia.[5]
