History

The Holy Name of Jesus Chinese Catholic Mission traces its origins to the Atlanta Chinese Catholic Association (ACCA), which was established in September 1990 by Catholics from Taiwan and Southeast Asia. Initially, the community met for Mass and fellowship every two months at All Saints Catholic Church in Dunwoody. Over the years, as the community grew, gatherings became more frequent, and by the late 1990s, Mass was held weekly. In 2009, Father Bill Hao became the first priest from the Archdiocese of Atlanta to serve the community regularly. The mission was officially recognized by the Archdiocese in November 2015. In 2016, the community purchased its own church property in Norcross, previously a Baptist church, and celebrated its dedication on November 19, 2017, with over 200 attendees. This marked the establishment of the first Chinese Catholic mission in the Archdiocese of Atlanta.[1][2][3]
