History
Saint Leo the Great Parish in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, was established in 1964 by Bishop George L. Leech, making it a relatively young parish within the Diocese of Harrisburg. The parish was created to serve the burgeoning Catholic community in the southwest part of Lancaster, with its first Mass celebrated on February 22, 1964. The early Masses were held in a barn on the Rohrerstown estate, reflecting the humble beginnings of the parish.[1]
The current church building was dedicated in November 1991, signifying the parish's growth and commitment to serving its community.
