History
St. Patrick Parish in Louisville, Kentucky, was established in June 1988 by Archbishop Thomas C. Kelly, O.P., to serve the growing Catholic population in eastern Jefferson County. The first Mass was celebrated on June 22, 1988, at the Eastwood Community Center, with Rev. John L. Schindler as the founding pastor. For two years, the parish operated without a permanent home, using the community center until 1990, when it leased a building in the Middletown Industrial Center, dubbed "the warehouse." By August 1993, after a long-range planning committee secured a permanent site, the parish moved to its current location at 1000 N. Beckley Station Road. This move enabled the opening of St. Patrick School in a shared building that housed the church, school, and offices. In 1997, Miles Hall—named for founding members Jack and Dolores Miles—was added, providing 17 classrooms. The parish has since grown to over 1,760 registered households (approximately 5,000 parishioners) by 2025, becoming a beacon of faith in the region, with ongoing expansions like the 2001 Commons wing enhancing its facilities.
