History
Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania, was established in 1896 to serve the large Italian immigrant community that settled in this coal-mining town. The parish reflects the cultural and spiritual heritage of these immigrants, who came to work in the anthracite coal mines, bringing with them a strong devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary under the title of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
