History
Christ the King in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, was established as a mission of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Shelby. The church's land was purchased in 1981, with the church being dedicated on November 29, 1983, coinciding with the Feast of Christ the King. The site was originally blessed with a medal of St. Joseph buried on the property by nuns in the early 1960s, symbolizing the Catholic presence in the area before the church's construction.[1][](https://catholicnewsherald.com/252-missions/9942-christ-the-king-kings-mountain)
