History

Queen of Peace Parish in Millersburg, Pennsylvania, was established in 1985, marking its significance as a relatively newer parish within the Diocese of Harrisburg. The parish was initially a mission of Our Lady, Help of Christians in Lykens, before becoming a mission of St. Matthew in Dauphin. It finally achieved independent parish status in 1985, reflecting the growth of the Catholic community in this part of Dauphin County.[1]

The church building on Zimmerman Road was part of the parish's humble beginnings, starting from Masses held in private homes and a house chapel before moving to its current location. It was served by the Canons Regular of Premontre (Norbertine Fathers) from the communities of Daylesford Abbey and Immaculate Conception Priory for over 25 years until 2003, when pastoral responsibility was handed over to diocesan priests.[2]

Queen of Peace does not have an associated school but offers religious education through programs aimed at fostering faith among the youth and adults. The parish is known for its community involvement, hosting various events like festivals, picnics, and spiritual retreats that help strengthen community bonds and support parish activities.[3]

The parish has maintained a strong commitment to youth protection, adhering to the Diocese's policies on the protection of children and young people. Queen of Peace continues to serve as a spiritual home for its parishioners, offering regular Masses, sacraments, and community services in a welcoming environment.[4]
