Draft2:Interagency Steering Committee on Radiation Standards

The Interagency Steering Committee on Radiation Standards (ISCORS) is comprised of 8 Federal agencies 3 Federal observer agencies and two state observer agencies who facilitate consensus on acceptable levels of radiation risk to the public and workers and promote consistent risk approaches in setting and implementing standards for protection from ionizing radiation.
DOE's role
The Office of Environment, Health, Safety and Security participates on behalf of DOE.

Member Agencies
Member Agencies represented on the committee are Federal Agencies having responsibilities for radiation protection, including the following:
- U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
- U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission
- U.S. Department of Energy
- U.S. Department of Defense
- U.S. Department of Homeland Security
- U.S. Department of Transportation
- The Occupational Safety and Health Administration of the U.S. Department of Labor
- U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
Observer Agencies
Observer Agencies are invited because of their science policy and regulatory policy responsibilities. These include the following:
- Office of Science and Technology Policy
- Office of Management and Budget
- Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board
Representatives from two state radiation control organizations have been invited as regular observers because of their expertise in regulatory implementation and oversight.
