The U.S. Advanced Battery Consortium (USABC) is comprised of Chrysler, Ford, and General Motors, and funds pre-competitive electrochemical energy storage R&D. USABC seeks to develop electrochemical energy storage technologies which support commercialization of fuel cell, hybrid, and electric vehicles.
Funding for development activity occurs through a cooperative agreement between USABC and DOE. This cooperation allows for the combined technical and financial resources of the DOE, OEM automakers, development partners, and U.S. National laboratories in jointly conducting advanced battery research and development.
DOE relevance
It is a subsidiary of USCAR that was enabled by a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).
