Draft2:Southeastern Universities Research Association (SURA)

Official website

Southeastern Universities Research Association (SURA) was established in 1980 with 13 research universities as a consortium to bid on the construction of a national Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility (CEBAF). In 1983, SURA was selected by the Department of Energy to design, build, and operate the CEBAF. CEBAF was renamed in 1996 to Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (Jefferson Lab), a nuclear physics research lab in Newport News, Virginia. SURA operates the SURA Residence Facility, a 42 room guest house, to accommodate national and international researchers who come to Jefferson Lab. As of 2021, more than 60 universities are members of SURA. SURA also funds and is the primary home of the Center for Nuclear Femtography.[1]
