Template:JISEA Twitter box Template:Notable articlesThe Joint Institute for Strategic Energy Analysis (JISEA) aims to guide the transformation of the global energy economy by conducting collaborative research and analysis in strategic areas that are of vital interest to our community of stakeholders and aligned with their mission.
Their key areas of research are:
- Energy Systems Integration and Transformation
- Energy in the Global Water-Food Nexus
- Advanced Manufacturing, Circular Economy, and Clean Power for Industry
The Institute is operated by the Alliance for Sustainable Energy, LLC, on behalf of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and other partners.
DOE's role
The Joint Institute for Strategic Energy Analysis is operated by the Alliance for Sustainable Energy, LLC, on behalf of the
- National Renewable Energy Laboratory
- University of Colorado-Boulder
- Colorado School of Mines
- Colorado State University
- Massachusetts Institute of Technology
- Stanford University
The website is managed and hosted by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
Mission/Objectives
JISEA research is focused on the intersections of diverse systems to ensure sustainability, resilience, and economic prosperity. JISEA strives to provide analysis that
- Guides, influences, and informs global energy investment and policy decisions
- Integrates social, behavioral, economic, and strategic insights
- Remains unbiased and unattached to a specific agenda
- Advances strategic dialogues that are taking place in countries worldwide.
Key Programs
Catalyzers
The JISEA Catalyzers initiative focuses on creating capabilities and accelerating the clean energy transition through collaboration.
Launched in early 2021, the JISEA Catalyzers initiative brings together thought leaders from JISEA, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, partner universities, and industry to elevate, broaden, and deepen research capabilities to address emerging challenges in the clean energy transition.
The JISEA Catalyzers leverage energy analysis, projects, data, and tools within specific research areas, each led by a principal investigator. Each catalyzer is incubated for 1–2 years.
Clean Energy Manufacturing Analysis Center
The Joint Institute for Strategic Energy Analysis established the Clean Energy Manufacturing Analysis Center (CEMAC) to provide objective insights and up-to-date data on global clean energy manufacturing.
CEMAC harnesses DOE national laboratory network in partnership with industry, academia, and research collaborators to conduct global clean energy manufacturing analysis across energy sectors.
CEMAC provides objective analysis and up-to-date data on global clean energy manufacturing. Policymakers and industry leaders seek CEMAC insights to inform choices to promote economic growth and the transition to a clean energy economy.
Knowledge Systems for Sustainability
Knowledge Systems for Sustainability (KSS) is a global research alliance that builds and tests knowledge systems for sustainability to better manage complex risks related to food, energy, water, climate, and human security.
21st Century Power Partnership
The 21st Century Power Partnership (21CPP) aims to accelerate the global transformation of power systems.
NICE Future
The Nuclear Innovation: Clean Energy Future (NICE Future) is an international initiative of the Clean Energy Ministerial. It is led by the United States, Canada and Japan.
