History

Immaculate Conception Parish in York, Pennsylvania, was established in 1892 to serve the growing Catholic community in the eastern part of the city. The parish was initially formed to cater to the needs of German-speaking Catholics in York, reflecting the significant German immigration to the area during the 19th century. The first church was a modest wooden structure, which served the congregation until a more substantial building was needed due to the increasing number of parishioners.[1]

The cornerstone for the current church was laid in 1915, and the building was dedicated in 1916, showcasing a blend of Romanesque and Gothic architectural styles.
