The AdvancedSearch is an extension enhances the search page through an advanced parameters form and aims to make existing search options more visible and accessible for everyone.

With all of these options, you always have the option of checking "Remember selection for future searches" if you are logged into Saintapedia.

Search in

The "Search in" section allows you to limit your search to certain portions of Saintapedia called namespaces.

Form fields

These words

• Description - Searches for these words in the title or text.
• Be aware of the following
  • Multiple words can be entered here.
  • Punctuation marks and other non-alphanumeric characters (with exception of the colon and comma) will be ignored.
  • There may be results that do not contain one or more of your search terms.
  • Word stemming is applied. Example: If car is entered, the search will also consider cars. The word stemming is language specific.
• Help page - Full text search
• Syntax-equivalent in the normal search - sesame street car

Exactly this text

• Description - Searches for a specific sequence of characters. Punctuation marks are ignored.
• Be aware of the following
  • Search is not case-sensitive.
  • Punctuation marks and other non-alphanumeric characters (with exception of the colon and comma) will be ignored.
  • Word stemming is not applied.
  • Separate the search phrases by comma and space e.g. "good morning", "hello friend".
• Help page - Words, phrases, and modifiers
• Syntax-equivalent in the normal search - Words in quotation marks, for example "Begin at the beginning"

Not these words

• Description - Excludes pages containing these words from the search.
• Be aware of the following
  • Word stemming is applied. Example: If car is entered, the search will also consider cars. The word stemming is language specific.
• Help page - Words, phrases, and modifiers
• Syntax-equivalent in the normal search - Words with - before them, for example -elephant.

• Description - Searches for pages with titles that start with this word
• Be aware of the following
  • The search includes redirects.
  • Word stemming is applied. Example: If car is entered, the search will also consider cars. The word stemming is language specific.
• Help page - Intitle and incategory
• Syntax-equivalent in the normal search - Words with intitle: before them like intitle:queen.

Subpages of this page

• Description - Searches for pages that are subpages of this page.
• Be aware of the following
  • You can only search for subpages of one page at a time.
  • Don’t forget to enable the namespaces you want to limit your search to in the namespace filter.
  • Do not include the namespace in front of the page name like this: Saintapedia:Redirect.
• Help page - subpageof
• Syntax-equivalent in the normal search - subpageof: followed by a page name like subpageof:Redirect. Use double quotes if the parent page contains spaces: subpageof:"Requests for comment".

Only pages with this template

• Description - Searches for pages that contain exactly this template.
• Be aware of the following
  • You can only search for one template at a time.
• Help page - Hastemplate
• Syntax-equivalent in the normal search - Words in quotation marks with hastemplate: before them like hastemplate:"missing information"

File type

• Description - Searches only for files of the selected type.
• Be aware of the following
  • You can only search for one file type.
  • You can only select the given file types from the drop-down menu.
• Help pages - filetype and filemime
• Syntax-equivalent in the normal search - Words with filetype: before them like filetype:ogg.
