Initially, Mass was celebrated in a Georgia Power building before a new church was dedicated in 1977. The mission was elevated to parish status on September 16, 1984, by Archbishop Thomas A. Donnellan. Over the years, the parish has seen significant growth, with the number of families increasing from 12 in 1969 to about 420 households by 2009.
