The Diocese of Birmingham in Alabama, USA, serves the spiritual and community needs of Catholics in the northern part of Alabama. It was officially established on December 9, 1969. Before this, the area was part of what is now the Archdiocese of Mobile.  It encompasses the northern 39 counties of Alabama, not to be confused with Birmingham in the UK.
