Company history with DOE

Savanah River Site

Centerra-SRS oversees the security of Savanah River Site.

Oak Ridge

WSI Oak Ridge's mission is to:

To protect the National Security Interests of the Department of Energy and National Nuclear Security Administration in Oak Ridge.[2]

Formerly known as Wackenhut Services Inc., the company once provided up to 1,000 security police officers and support staff at federal facilities that included East Tennessee Technology Park, the Joe L. Evins Federal Building, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and Y-12 National Security Complex.

WSI lost its contract to guard Y-12, a National Nuclear Security Administration site, after the July 28 security breach, and it did not win a separate contract to protect local U.S. Department of Energy sites, including ETTP, ORNL, the Federal Building, and the rest of the Oak Ridge Reservation. That contract was awarded to National Strategic Protective Services LLC, or NSPS.[3]

Nevada

G4S Government Solutions, Inc. (G4S GS) announced Nov. 25, 2014 that it has entered into a definitive agreement to sell G4S GS and other related assets and assumed liabilities to a U.S. private equity firm, and has launched Centerra Group, LLC, a global government and critical infrastructure services company. Once completed, Centerra will become the largest American-owned provider of protective services to the federal government.[4]

Centerra Group, LLC, formerly G4S Government Solutions, Inc. was founded in 1960 by George Wackenhut and operated as Wackenhut Services Incorporated (WSI). The company merged with G4S and became G4S Government Solutions in 2011. Today, Centerra is a multidisciplinary service provider with 9,000 employees worldwide.

Centerra-Nevada is a mid-size company with a diverse team of employees, most of whom are protective force members. Security personnel provide a broad range of services, from basic access control to complex security missions.

The Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) began operations under the Atomic Energy Commission in 1950 and is now operated by its successor civilian agency, the Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). The NNSS is where the nation's underground nuclear testing program was conducted. It encompasses 1,350 square miles at a site 65 miles norwest of Las Vegas. Mercury, Nevada, is the gateway to the NNSS and serves as its administrative and logistical headquarters. Mercury is set up as a small city with amenities that include housing, a cafeteria, a fire department, and U. S. Postal Services.

Centerra is 100 percent United States owned, holds a Top Secret Facility Clearance and is one of the largest U.S. Government providers of cleared security, fire, facilities, fleet, construction and training services.
